Corrective Exercise
for Perfect Posture and Proper Technique
Do you ever worry about getting injured (or re-injured) by hiring a Personal Trainer who isn’t careful or doesn’t know what they’re doing? Have you been pushed too far by Personal Trainers or gotten hurt from exercising on your own? The cost of follow-up medical bills & physical therapy can outweigh the benefit of buying a personal training program. If you are concerned about your exercise form, a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist can help you improve your technique and utilize careful strengthening and stretching exercises to prevent injury.
NASM Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist
Corrective Exercise can be included in my programs to enhance your movement and reduce risk of injury. During an initial assessment, I can test to see if you have any movement impairments, postural issues, or decreased range of motion. For instance, if your knees cave in during squats I could identify this impairment and recommend stretches and exercises to keep your knees aligned properly. Similarly, I can restore your posture and technique throughout your workouts by reminding you to keep your knees over your ankles. Above all, my programs are safe and can aid in weight loss and toning.

The truth is, most gym-goers are unknowingly performing exercises incorrectly because they have over-trained certain muscles. This causes muscles to shorten, while other underused muscles become elongated due to neglect of strengthening these muscles. Extended periods of sitting, spending hours on the road traveling, or doing repetitive movements (such as reaching up to grab files throughout the day, or typing on a keyboard) can cause muscular imbalances. This results in strained muscles, tight muscles, muscle pain, and/or improper execution of joint movement. In fact, most injuries are non-contact injuries due to a sedentary lifestyle or improper executive of exercise mechanics. Consequently, this is why exercises to reduce injury risk should be applied to your workout program.
What makes Kelly different from other Personal Trainers?
Kelly Athletics LLC has a fully integrated Corrective Exercise program that demonstrates exercises to prevent injury AND fix movement impairments. Ultimately, this sets you up for the PERFECT form and extremely low risk of injury for long-term. More specifically, Kelly provides a comprehensive movement impairment assessment in order to recommend stretching protocols with a follow-up stretching plan. Next, Kelly will create a thorough workout program to help you re-educate weak muscles while stretching your overused muscles. To prevent injuries, it is pertinent that you correct your posture and exercise form and properly stretch before and after each workout. Corrective Exercise is an approach to Personal Training that can help with fat loss, muscle build, and improved sports performance.

Movement Impairment Assessment
Try a Corrective Exercise or Goniometric Assessment
Call me for a free consultation and set up a 60-minute Movement Impairment Assessment to determine your Corrective Exercise needs. Following the movement assessment or goniometric assessment, I can recommend stretching protocols in future sessions along with facilitated stretches, manual muscle testing, isometric strengthening exercises, and/or goniometric range of motion testing. Having a combination of stretches and strengthening exercises is key to correcting a bad posture or movement deficiency. Kelly Athletics is available for Personal Training online or Corrective Exercise in Pittsburgh PA.
Note: Corrective Exercise Specialists are different than Physical Therapists who treat injuries. A Corrective Exercise Specialist may prevent injury and reduce pain, but it is not a replacement for treating an injury. Seek a Physical Therapist or Neuromuscular Therapist for existing injuries! If you are looking for a "pre-hab" vs rehab approach to training, contact me! Kelly Athletics is local to residents of Ross township, McCandless, Wexford, Franklin Park, Sewickley Heights, Cranberry Township, O'Hara township and Fox Chapel.
